Do I have to own an Instant Pot to use this cookbook?

The recipes in this cookbook are designed for an electric pressure cooker, but it does not have to be Instant Pot brand. There are no specialty settings involved!

If you do not have a pressure cooker at all, you’ll still be able to enjoy many of the recipes (especially the salads & dressings) but oven and stove top methods are NOT included in this book, so you’ll have to experiment with cooking times on your own.

 

Are all of the recipes gluten-free?

There are gluten-free options included for every single recipe in this cookbook, but there are a few recipes that do call for gluten containing grains, including whole wheat flour, farro, and barley.

Be sure to look for the “Make It Gluten-Free” note at the bottom of these recipes, if you need to.

Does this book include vegetarian or vegan recipes?

This is not a 100% vegetarian cookbook. Out of the 75 recipes included, 16 of them do call for meat or fish. (Most of these are found in the Protein-Packed Favorites chapter.)

With that being said, there is a tested vegan alternative for every single recipe in this book, so you can still enjoy those recipes if you don’t consume meat or dairy.

Everything I’ve made so far has been unbelievably good, such as the creamy navy beans & rice, wild rice & mushroom stew, easy taco salad, orange chicken, and chicken tikka masala. The red beans and rice was spicy and flavorful while being extremely simple to make. The double chocolate brownies were fudgy and rich – and gone within 12 hours. More about my personal experience with Megan’s other books and her eating strategies … Over the past few years, I’ve changed the way I cook (and eat) to align more with the strategies Megan promotes. On most weeks, I cook 4-5 recipes from Megan’s cookbooks or from her website. Her food is delicious, easy to prepare, and satisfies my family of crazy eaters (which includes a vegetarian, a vegan, several meat eaters, & one who is low-dairy / low-gluten).
